This year's OSHA Update Seminar will provide a look at the practical applications of many federal regulations and will include an analysis of state fatalities where the absence or misapplication of safety standards directly led to a death. All topics will include an interactive Q&A period with members of the Little Rock Area Office of OSHA.

ASSE Region III Professional Development Conference

August 2-6, 2008

Speaker & Presenter Guidelines

Region III invites those interested in presenting at our 2008 Professional Development Conference to submit an application for review by the Conference Planning Committee. The objective of the 2008 Conference is to give the attendees the opportunity to:

  • Determine the key safety and health issues facing our profession.
  • Improve their professional skills and knowledge.
  • Prepare for the wide variety of challenges in the health and safety fields.

The Conference Planning Committee will be looking for beginning, advanced, technically oriented and practical presentations that fulfill the needs of our safety and health attendees. Lecture, roundtable discussion and demonstration sessions are requested to enhance attendees learning opportunities.

Materials to be Submitted:

Description of the Presentation: Provide a brief description on your proposed presentation. This description should be sufficient in size so the Planning Committee can evaluate the content and assess the level of interest for the attendees. You must list the learning objectives you expect attendees to achieve during this session in order to be considered for selection.

Brochure Description: Provide a 75-100 word summary of your presentation. This will be used in the conference materials to describe presentations being offered.

Biographical Data and Resources: List your name, address, education, current position, certifications, professional designations, qualifications and other relevant speaking experience. Provide a list of your speaking presentations for the last five years. List contact information and work phone number for three references.

Policy and Other Information:

Levels: Sessions are evaluated with respect to the attendees as follows: Safety 101- one to two years experience, Intermediate - three to eight years experience, Advanced - eight plus years experience.

Length of Presentation: Each session lasts about 60 minutes, of which about 10 minutes should be devoted to questions.

Proceedings: The compendium of papers (a proceeding) for all the concurrent education sessions is provided to each of the conference attendees. Speakers are expected to submit a paper on their presentation and/or a copy of their presentation and handouts. Details on preparation of the proceedings paper is provided upon selection.

Honoraria: Individual speakers receive a discount on a full conference registration. Travel, lodging and meal expenses are the responsibility of the speaker.

37th Annual Mid-America Safety and Environmental Health Conference and Expo

May 6-9th 2008

The 2008 Mid-America Safety, Health and Environmental Conference and Exposition celebrates its' 36th Anniversary this year under the sponsorship of the Missouri Safety Council in cooperation with all of Missouri's other local safety councils and Chapters of the American Society of Safety Engineers ASSE.

The Conference and Expo is the product of a 60 member committee of volunteers who spend countless hours throughout the year developing the conference program.
